SamsaraT Black metal at its purest, yet these guys don’t shrink from approaching compositions like a grind or punk band, that is: no padding, all straight to the gut with a very powerful sound. They keep all of the repetitive hypnotic magick for Heretic Temple – one of the most fearsome tracks ever released upon the unsuspecting masses. I’m guessing a priest dies somewhere every time I listen to it. Favorite track: Heretic Temple.

The Secret are one of the heaviest and most extreme bands to ever crawl their way out of Italy. The Secret come to life as an output for rage, darkness and negativity. The band combines elements of crust/grind, primitive black metal, dark soundscapes and monolithic riffs to take the listener by the hand through an hallucinated trip towards a foggy and yet invisible tomorrow.

After their 2010 release: Solve Et Coagula on Southern Lord, they went through a few member changes before settling on their current and indisputably best incarnation. This lineup is a lethal, death-ripping war machine! Like the previous album, the new one: Agnus Dei was also recorded by Kurt Ballou at Godcity studios. This new blasphemous titan is without question their heaviest, and most filthy crust-ridden recording to date.

I happened upon Batushka by clicking on a suggested video on YouTube and Yekteniya 3 was the one that I heard first. From there, I was hooked. Yektoniya 3 constantly haunts me to the point where I have to get my daily/weekly fix of it. Overall the whole Litourgiya album is perfection from start to finish. I am enamored by it all from the chants to the harsh vocals to the energetic guitar playing to the thunderous drums. Excellent! Lanna E

Sure, we love how it's fast and violent, but it also understands the power of slow and bleak as hell once or twice. There is sublime violence in that as well. Hard to find an album that can do the fast and the slow with equal brutality, but here it is. Jake
